Official Press Release:
Branded Arts—in partnership with KITH—is excited to announce the 2022 Branded Arts Festival, the third installment of the mural series that seeks to inspire students through the power of public art and week-long programming. Over 15 local and international artists have been commissioned to paint a series of murals throughout Benjamin N. Cardozo High School in Queens, New York, the alma mater of KITH founder Ronnie Fieg. The festival continues to facilitate the importance of art in educational systems, hosting student engagement projects throughout its week-long run. Students will be involved with mural production through workshops and seminars, along with participating in an academic symposium from May 25 – 27, 2022, which features a wide-array of presentations. The Grand Reception will be held Wednesday, May 25th from 3pm – 8pm, featuring a presentation with Ronnie Fieg and special guests.
The Queens project was born out of an ongoing collaboration between Branded Arts and Ronnie Fieg; in 2019 Kith and the philanthropic arm of Branded Arts celebrated the Maya Angelou High School in South Central Los Angeles with an arts festival that transformed the school into a series of murals honoring the school’s namesake, poet and civil rights activist. This festival at Benjamin N. Cardozo High School is the very first East Coast installment in the series designed to transform school campuses into artistic canvases.
With cutbacks in public school budgets significantly impacting art programs around the country, the Branded Arts Festival seeks to step into the void by commissioning a range of acclaimed artists to paint murals and engage students in the process. Not only will murals be painted throughout the week, but the school cafeteria will be transformed into a gallery exhibition space featuring artwork from the muralists as well as the students. In addition, Branded Arts is happy to announce a special collaboration with KITH and Daniel Arsham Studio. Students will receive a special limited edition commemorative shirt designed by Daniel Arsham and KITH.
Branded Arts is a Los Angeles-based organization that offers a full spectrum of artistic services for communities and corporate settings alike. Over the last 12 years, they have produced over 600 public and private mural projects around the world. This project is part of the company’s ongoing philanthropic initiatives.
Established in 2011, Kith operates on two planes – a multifunctional lifestyle brand for men, women, and kids, as well as a progressive retail establishment. Founded by Ronnie Fieg, born and raised in Queens, Kith aligns itself with brands and ideations from Fieg’s childhood that cohesively formalized the roots of his upbringing.
