Born and raised in Los Angeles, Charlie began his career as a graffiti artist working in a variety of styles and mediums, including colorful mixed-media paintings, large-scale murals, and bold design graphics.
While attending Otis College of Art and Design, Charlie integrated his extensive knowledge of graffiti and design into contemporary abstract paintings on wood using only spray paint. He has since expanded his work to include letters, shapes and different hues to form his paintings.
His art is inspired by minimalist abstract painters such as Ellsworth Kelly and Sol Lewitt, and by his father, Joe, who is a calligrapher.
